Is requiring voter registration a good or bad thing?

I think that requiring voter registration is a good idea because it is a good way for the government to be organized and keep track of who is is voting. however, i think more people would vote if they could just go to the poll place and say their name and birthday and show id and somehow it could go to all computers at the poll boxes across the world so they could not vote again. i think it would just be an easier, more productive way.

  1. I agree with your idea of an easier system for voting but giving all of your info just before voting could slow down the process a little. So instead of registering the day of they should have you register a few days in advance.

  2. Keegan, you are still saying people should have to register, but just to allow them more time to do so? A few days rather than a few weeks? Either we want to allow as many people to vote as possible or not! We could easily do this with modern technology... the problem is the electronic voting machines, not registration procedures! Let's talk about where people are really being disenfranchised and where the voter fraud is...

  3. My point... sorry... not clear... Jill, it sounds like you think we should have "universal registration" where it is not up to the individual but to the government to keep track of eligibility.

  4. I have never thought of using modern technology to make voting easier.
